I am looking at installing some racing type seats with good four or five point harnesses. What brands have people liked/disliked. I am planing on running some bars accross the floor from roll cage to roll cage to mount them too. Any other good mounting ideas? Thanks for any help.

I'm looking at the hunsaker synkro

i have beard and like them, also have had sprco, they were awesome. in my opinion i would go with a spring seat with lots of ventilation. for the long long trips.

I would go either, Beard, Corbeau, or MasterCraft. As for bealts i would go for the Camlock 5 point made by RJS for Hunsaker. These ones: http://store.summitracing.com/partdetail.asp?autofilter=1&part=BOB%2D30298%2D19%2D23&N=700+115&autoview=sku

Just make sure you follow the proper mounting instructions for the harnesses cause if you dont they can compressor your spine and do more harm then good.

Is there usually a good way to mount them so the back seat is still usable. I need to have the room for the kids in the back. Not that I will put the harnesses to work while the kids are along, but I don't want to have to take them out whenever the kids are in the jeep.

if got ractive ones to go into my jeep, ive seen some guys have a bar across from the rollcage on each side behind the doors, im buiilding brackets to atatch mine to the rollcage infront of the soundbar that way i wont have to sacrifice legroom///passengers. also to move my seat forwards or to tilt it, all i have to do is pull the belts through the holes. and if i want to recline it fully i can, i dont have to worry about the bar accros at knee height. hope that helps!

I run the Corbeau Moabs and love them. I also added the 4 point belts that are retractable. I mounted the retractors at a 45deg. angle to the top of the wheelwell. (need the back seat for the kids and the cross bar just wasn't going to work) I can post some pic's if ya want to see them.

Lets see those pics. I need to mount those belts so the back seat isn't affected. I built my cage so adding on it is not a problem. I've been hoping that there is a good way to attach it above.

I dunno if you want to spend the money or make them yerself, but Rockhard makes a set of bars for the 5 points that goes from the verticle rollbar to the top horiz. bar, and its a bolt in affair and it leaves good acess to the back of the jeep. check the website and fab them yerself if you want..

Sorry I took so long to get the pic's guys. There are the seats and the 4 point belts from Corbaeu. The Retractor is an extra 30 bucks (I got the 2 seats both belts and the retractors for $600) I put a large fender washer and a peice of flatstock to brace under the wheel well.

The retractors let it work like a regular shoulder strap but twist the dial on the side and it hard locks for the trails.

Thanks for the pics. That looks pretty good. I think my kids seat would still fit with the belts like that. Did you build tubular mounts for the seats or aer they on the floor? I'm going to tie mine into the roll cage I think.

They mount right to the hard mounts that were there with the stock belts. Let me know how the tie in works for ya.

just my .02, but I HATED my Corbeau retractable seat belts. The retractors broke. While doing some high speed desert driving, my passengers harness just fell apart! When we stopped and looked at what broke, the buckle at your chest broke and came apart leaving him with no shoulder harness. Even when you would hit a big bump (to throw your weight out of the seat) the harness would loosen up. The belts in the picture look slightly different than what I had:
http://i22.photobucket.com/albums/b348/miguelitojeep97/Picture033.jpg
anyway the buckle was made with a plastic cover (easily can be broken) and then small metal peices that easily could be bent. They were not one solid piece like my current ones.
sorry to rant but... hell I had a really bad experience.
So when I emailed a couple times and got not response, I called. The guy said "oh did it get slammed in the door and break?" well first off, no. Second even if it did, it shouldnt break! at what, $100 a piece they should be stronger than that!
The guy was trying to be nice and told me to send the belts to him and they will look at them. but yea... uh daily driver... cant really do that. I was over it. Ordered some RJS 4 point harnesses for half the price of the Corbeau ones, and am VERY impressed!
once again sorry to rant...but come on. This company is supposed to be great for there seats and harnesses right? I ended up throwing away my Corbeau harnesses.

Whats the set you are running now? How did you mount them and could you keep that back seat in? just asking because Im always looking for the better thing.

FYI...for the shoulder harnesses it is important to have them mounted behind the seat, but level with the holes that the straps go thru on the seat. If they are mounted lower it can crush your spine and cause other major problems. Here are a few solutions that I've come across that will work by RockHard. You can either get the bar that fits across the back of the seats horizontally or the two separate bars that fit diagonally. Both allow for mounting the harnesses at the correct level for ultimate safety.

Hmmm I see how that works good, Im just wondering how it would affect the spine like that. The seats in NASCAR's bolt down and behind at a 45 angle. Thanks though I like the look and way thoese work. How do you have the seats mounted in yours??? I might change to something like that.

sorry forgot about this.

I now have the Rockhard harness bar.

I do not like to haul around my buddys, and I cant recline my seats anyway so I dont care about the backseat. I guess you could do the angle bar set-up but I think it will still be a challenge to gt kids back there unless they climb through the sides.
and You really do need a seat that will work with these belts.

I have RJS 4-point harnesses. they are awesome! and very strong!
