No pics. I was up there 2 weeks ago rescuing a stolen car and tried to bring it out of the hills down that canyon. Rut was like 4ft deep and 4 ft wide.

We actully got a Lincoln Town car within 100ft of the squeeze lol

What do you mean by 'gone'?

Looks different at night but I think thats it. I was coming down vs looking up. had a huge rut at the top that would eat my Jeep.

I wasnt aware of the trail being in that bad of shape. The plan was to run odessa in the late afternoon & then to run whatever after the sun went down. I wouldn't mind checking it out to see just how difficult it has become.

That must have been from the deluge we got here a week or more back. There were flash floods all over the place. I will try to get the go-ahead from the Mrs. to attend this. I'd like to see what happened up there as a result of the rain.

Is this area "adopted" by anyone? Is there a club to contact with trail issues that need to be fixed?

I tried to find if anyone has this trail adopted & the last thing I came up with was the Toyota Landcruiser association took on the task back in 06. Im going to see if I can contact them so I can get more info. Hope I can have an answer soon.

Nothing that I can think of. I wanna see for myself what the trail looks like. Sounds like FUN to me.

As long as it does not create a eminent danger to human lives it should be left. After all it is a natural occurrence. That's how the geography developed in Calico originally, right? Many times we jump to Fix things on our trails that may not need attention, unless it it a true Danger, Danger. I have a definite stance on these issues recently reinforced by just having completed the Dusy / Ershim and noticing the way in which that trail has been managed. Low management, but effective and safely challenging. I am open to finding out the facts, assessing the situation, and then finding a solution. The solution could include fixing or not. JMHO-

I think what Krawler was trying to say is we rented out the large bunk house at Calico. It sleeps 20 people. We have a few bunks open if anyone is interested. The price is $5 per person. All you need to bring is your bedding. PM me if you are interested.:beer:

It gets dark around 8:30pm now (look I'm using HUMAN time!) from experience at the drive in. So if we take off around 5pm we should be done in time to hit up the night run right?

This ALL hinges on my being able to take some time off. We have a unit to train at that time...so I don't know if I'll get the days off. Submitted my paperwork, but who knows.

5:00 PM is the time posted to meet for the group thats coming. I was wanting to run odessa before night fall then regroup & pick some other trails to run. also there are lots of mines to explore in the area as well if anyone is into doing that. If anyone has suggestions on any other trails for that night feel free to speak up.:shout:

Sorry everyone but I am not going to be able to make it on this run. I am going to a 70 hr a week work schedual for the next two months so we can make our deadline for the project I am on. Hope someone will be able to step up & take over. Again I am very sorry.:angry:

If I wanted to play during the day, when should I get there? I will be camping overnight I think. I probably will not have my family along for this one.

awesome day run. odessa is way more challenging. The tight spot and the ledge are different. Also Gatekeeper has completely changed. the big hole is filled in half way. And there is a new hole about 7 feet deep about 20 feet before it. I was gonna stay but the heat got to me. This was cooler than shredder during the day. Was 118 in some spots and 113 in the breeze parts. will post some pics later. I think this is the best run I have done yet.
