I'm thinking about planning a trip to Anza Borrego in the future and I was wondering if Truckhaven and some of the other difficult trails in the area are manageable without lockers. This will be my first time going. Any comments and suggestions are much appreciated. And are there any trails that are a must? Thanks.
Jim
Yes.. There are a ton of trails out there that can be done without lockers.. Our first trip out there was with a 3" lift and no lockers.. Started out by ourselves and ended up meeting up with a group that let us tag along.. We had a great time.. I think we were aired down to about 8lbs on 33" BFG All Terrains.. Hope this helps..

Depending on how big your BFG's are, be careful about how far you air down. I have 31's and aired down to 11psi when I went to Big Bear and one of the fronts unseated itself from the wheel on Gatekeeper. Finally ended up punctured when we finally finished through Gatekeeper. I don't go past 15psi with these 31's.

I'll second that. 13 psi is as low as I'd go on 33s.
Thanks guys.. That is good information..

I have always ran 10psi on my 33x12.50 BFG mudders without any problems.
Yeah we want to plan a fun trip without having to worry about going on a trail we shouldn't have with just limited slips.
The only trails you would have trouble at Truckhaven with a limited slip would be a loose hill climb. Most of the main trails are well worn and ground clearance is a must.
I will be out there on the Sat following Thanksgiving doing a run and you are welcome to come out. TDS will be camping on the bluff about a mile past the micro wave tower. We would be getting started between 8 and 8:30.

Thanks for the info and invite. I'm not sure if I can make it or not, but definitely want to go.
