Just wanted to say that I was very happy with Rough Country. The shocks that came with my lift for the Grand Cherokee took a dump. Lifetime warranty, contacted Rough Country and now have 4 new ones waiting to go on. Now thats customer service, Kevin.

Heard of some failures with RC gear, I'd be interested to know how long these last. However, great customer service is something I'd pay a little extra for.

Good question Nick...
I am running a 4.5 inch Rough Country lift on my CJ7 (got it from LeadfootJosh, who I highly recommend!)
The leaf springs have been great! I was able to bend one of them... but I am sure that was my fault on Hammerdown... Rough Country and LeadfootJosh replaced the bent one right away without any problems at all... My kit also came with shocks... I have not had any problems or issues with the shocks at all, they have been just as I expected them to be...

I've been running the RC 4" X series lift with the 2.2 shocks for a year now and I've only had to replace 1 set of front lower control arm bushings. With a 1.25" body lift and 1" motor mount lift I'm running 35" MTR's very nicely. It has taken my all over Calico, John Bull, Dishpan, Mottino and truckhaven. I'm going to be going in a different direction suspension wise here shortly and most likely will be selling it to someone local for pennies on the dollar. I don't really have anything bad to say about it if you stay within it's limits I guess.

I have a 4 inch series 2 on my jeep and I have had great luck with Rough Country as an overall for the past seven years. Anytime I need a product they sell I call them and if another company has what ever they are selling as they sell a lot more than just lift kits they will match or beat the price. And prices are great with them too. They always stand behind there products and have shipped me any replacements needed for no charge at all. Face it guy's,.. we are rough on our stuff on the trail. And they still back it up.

So, just to be clear...
It is OK if the parts are crap as long as they replace them for free?
This sounds like the Auto Zone philosophy.

my XJ is decked out with all rough country suspensions..
long arm , shocks, springs, track bar.. etc..
i haven't had a single issue.. and I don't have a problem going up, through, down, around, anything..
as you all know I sell there products.. along with the other top brands.. but you can not beat there customer service... they got a bad rap back in the day.. when they were putting out LIFT KITS.. and us explores were pushing there LIFT KITS past there intended purpose.. but they have come along way.. and now produce stuff that is designed for us... yes there is better stuff out there.. but there is a lot worse.. for more money..
just my :2:
just cause its says Rubicon.. doesn't make it the best.. lol..

Wow Nailer, (Erik) I really don't know how to respond to your comment. I was giving Rough Country kudos for backing their product, which I, my son Scott, My son-in-law, Bill, friend Carlos all use. We've had good service and no other complaints. ( if your intention was to be insulting, you've suceeded ) Normally I would be more than happy to tell you to go pound salt, but instead I'll say Merry Christmas, Kevin.

Clint Eastwood's movie "The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly". I've been in retail for over a decade and the service industry since the '90's. One guy may get great cust service, another gal may have an issue. I, for one, will not shop my local 4WD store b/c of the (lack of) service I've gotten, but they do a boomin biz. Recent example outside of wheelin: I read some on-line reviews @ Big John's Military Surplus in Riverside. ALL negative. Bashed the owner, their service, policies...I went in anyway. Owner was there -- nice as pie! Chatted me up, gave me a free pen, made sure I found everything. Guy behind the counter asked me @ jerry cans and we talked @ camping. Anyway, point is, every place will have good and bad -- Mr. Rat Patrol had an ugly in his Brokeback Tranny thread. And, before I get jumped on, there are a few places, shops, sevices that are spot on and RARELY have a bad product or bad service. Leadfoot Josh sounds like a guy who provides the goods at a consistent high level. And, Tony the vendor from MA that's on here sounds like a quality service provider. But, I'm sure one MJR member could find a sliver of dissatisfaction with either of those two gentlemen. Okay, I'll get off my soap box. BTW, with all this rain, do YJ's float?!?!

Well, I wasn't trying to hurt your feelings.
You are allowed to like whatever brands you choose. I was just trying to wrap my head around the whole lifetime warranty of parts that last a short time.
I know it is a selling point for some items, like the brake pads at auto zone. We all know you'll only get a year out of them and they will destroy the rotors in the same amount of time, but that lifetime warranty on the pad makes it all worth while.
I am personally not a big fan of the Rough Country stuff. Everyone is entitled to an opinion, and ours differ.
I'm glad to hear that they have good customer service, as there is little more critical to a company's success in this economic climate.
How long did you have those shocks on there? For some reason I am thinking a year or so?
Merry Christmas to you , and all that I offended and didn't offend.

If this is directed at me, I have to make clear that my opinion of a particular brand of lift, or parts has no reflection on the folks that sell them.
I inferred no ill feelings toward LEADFOOT Josh or any other dealers of the parts.
I'll crawl back into my hole now-

Erik-
I didnt direct at you at all! My point was similar to yours. Everyone has an opinion; which is what is awesome about our USA and this whole forum. That's what attracts me to this site - open discussion. (I personally am partial to anything I have on my rig because its mine! Even if it aint the best! I.e. - I have a 4 banger. Wished I had a 6, but I love my 4 cuz its mine!! Hehe)

In all seriousness, it is a good lift, as Bill stated, "if you stay within its limitations". Apparently they have great customer service, which is also a big plus.
Bill has decided to slam his jeep through the trails in JV, and for this the RC lift is just not up to his driving and trail style.
Having quickly gone through the rubber bushings a couple of shocks, and a bar pin eliminator, and the embarrassment of becoming a trail plug, he has decided to swap it out for something more suited to the trails he wants to run.
I'd run it on my normal trail jeep had I not already put a different lift on it.
I know there are some sensitive people reading this thread, and the last few posts have been in jest; well, except for the part where Billy is selling his lift, and the part where if Chuck Norris would have said something.....
eh... I'm exhausted from this.

I really owe you an apology here Nailer341+ .. Too little did I consider the ramifications of mentioning your name in regard to this serious matter of Jeep personalizations! I thought I was clear enough in my statments regarding this RC issue but your succinct and eloquent reply in my stead is really on point. For those who care: The timing of this post and my change in suspension choices is coincedental! Infact, Nailer341+ and his opinion had little bearing in this decision. But To be exact I have installed an Currie 4" lift and will be outboarding the rear shocks and going with Fox brand shocks. I believe this is more suited to my needs at this point of my Jeeping hobby.

i have a 4.5 rough country lift on my xj and i dont have any problems with it. yeah i hate the shocks i have that came with the lift but i got the basic ones instead of paying for the upgraded or bilstein ones. u get what u pay for. but i have seen the long arm upgrade and it looks pretty beffy. comes with 11/4 flex joints. most guys just need something to bitch about. i would break a r.e. lift just like i could break a r.c lift so with that in mind ill buy from the guy that replaces it if u break it. gracias. oh and just for the record chuck norris can lick em.

Would the RC long arm upgrade work on the front of the ZJ? The XJ has the same front end i don't see why it would not work.

RC does not make a long arm for the zj,no market for it :(. The xj is pretty much the same but maybe the crossmember would create a problem. I might just call them next week and find out.

Well i got up and called rough country this morning instead of waiting till next week. I spoke to jeff @ RC and asked him are they going to be putting out a long arm for the ZJ like the XJ has and he said it in the works and in a couple weeks it will be in the market. So i think I might hold off and go with the long arms and like they say.. Be done with it! Well for now.
