The idea of stripping _somebody's_ Jeep on the trail makes me uncomfortable. It is obviously a high-dollar build-up. I doubt it was left up for grabs.

How about getting the VIN and calling the National Forest to get in touch with the owner to get it out.

Would you be more comfortable if we took it off the trail to the highway and stripped it? :D

Of course we were all kidding but yes you do have a much better idea. Unfortunately I won't be up near there anytime soon.

Folks, this wasn't posted because it was abandoned - but because this MORON is driving over the barrier the Adopt a Trail Club spent many hours building..........

OH!! I was wondering what that was he was driving over ... why is there a barrier on Holcomb?

I think i have a pretty good idea who's Jeep this is.

I'm going to contact him and find out for sure. I'd be pretty amazed if it's not the Jeep i think it is, and even more suprised that others don't know who's rig it is. Nickname is "RED" if it's the one i think it is.

I think I've seen this Jeep before, now that you mention it. I think it was the Miller Jeep/USC Film student trip. I may have video of it getting the strap after it was high centered on a dirt berm.

Sorry about the grumpy rant, I think I've been reading about too many stolen rigs (http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?forumid=44):P:)

I can understand where you are coming from after reading some of those. It makes me want to sleep in my jeep at night so nobody steals it.

Pondscum,

You might want to mention that the picture came to me (and a host of others) FROM Forestry.

Needs a good slap up 'side the head, as my late Pappy would say.

well i've talked to a few people and they too seem to think it's the YJ that i think it is. I sent a PM to the owner of the YJ in question and am awaiting a reply from him.

Few things that have me confused.

1) is that "road block" labeled as such? I've never been on that trail and from looking at the picture it just looks to me like a dead tree in the road i can see no signs marking it as a closed road.

2) Any idea how recent that photo is? The guy who's YJ i think that is ran no hood and like 37's a year or 2 ago, his YJ doesn't look anything like that anymore. He's got a hood and 40's now and has been that way for over a year.

some more info:

It appears that this photo is indeed who i thought it might be. I got a reply from the guy who owns the other jeep pictured in the background.

Here's the info he passed onto me about it:

That picture was probably summer 02'.

There were three Jeeps running that day, and then there was a group of people that passed while we were there.

The barrier didn't by any means look like a trail barricade. There is a road that runs perpendicular to those logs, I would take them more as a wash-out control then anything. Going over dead logs doesn't hurt shit when it is a washout control. Those trees were big enough that they didn't move.

Why Forestry is bringing this up now, no clue.
