I know all about the AMC-20 & D-44 & what can be done to it etc.
I don't know much if any about the D-35.

My question is as follows:
What can be done to this axle to improve it if need be & if it was left stock is it a strong axle, would you put it in your Jeep or put a AMC20 in the Jeep.

Thanks,
RollBar

P.S. It's out of the 2WD 96' Cherokee w/3.55 gears.

I think the answer here is in what not to put under a Jeep... I'd go with the 20 if those are your only options (I'd stick it out for a 44), but the 20 has similar housing strength issues as the 35. The 35 is a c-clip axle, which means if you break a shaft, the wheel falls off. This can lead to purchase of new underwear in some cases... You should plan on spending ~$300 for one piece axles in the 20. A truss would be a good idea also. By the time it's all said and done, you would have a stronger axle and possibly less total cost if you found a stock D44 and called it done. What are you putting this under?

I have spare Jeeps & I was thinking of using this axle for one of them untill I found what I wanted to run.
I didn't know much about this axle & was inquiring.

P.s. temporary use would be o.k., that's what I'm finding out.
