What are the advantages of the water heated intake? Are there any benefits by disconnecting the heater lines? It would seem like if it was disconnected it would by a cooler fuel charge into the head.Any thoughts on this?My CJ and my sons YJ both have heated intakes.

im assuming the yj is carbed. im not positive about this but i think the carb/air need to be warm to run properly...
Warmer incoming air is somewhat essential on a carbureted engine if you want it to idle decent. You can definitely make more power with a non-wc intake, but your idle will suffer. The higher temperatures help vaporize the fuel more than with lower intake temps. Small droplets of fuel will be running around on the walls of the intake if it's not warm enough and when they get sucked into the cylinder, you get a stumble in the idle. Think "dragster idle" versus how you want your jeep to idle... Also it will probably not have a chance in heck of passing smog, but I'm not sure if that is an issue in your area.
Smog inspection here consists of checking the gas cap.Thats it!I do,however like a smooth idle so they will remain water heated. Thanks for the feedback.
