Having fun in Calico, with some LandRovers :eek: , I decided to take the "Hard" way up and over these rocks. I had attempted these before, but failed miserably. I didnt do so will this time either.

The story goes something like this:

The dirt devils were going to move that rock....so I thought I would help them out some. Too bad I moved it the wrong direction after I used it in a feeble attempt at making my own "custom" belly up pan. At least I managed to push the belly pan up about 3". :D

This thread is for Oops too, right. Most of you already know the story, so i'll keep it short. Playing on a BIG rock near me. I didn't see a dip in the grass, front right went down, rear left came up, next thing I know, I'm on my side.

OH, and BTW, I'm an A-hole too. My wife definitely thinks so after putting the Jeep on its side, she even told me so. LOL

this was when i was still a stocker... i was having a blast crawling, and my tire slipped. after several repeated attempts to liberate the jeep, we finally got it out digging around the base of the rock and using the hi-lift to pull the rock out from under the jeep. all my friends with me called me an a-hole several times over because 2 of them broke trying to rescue my stuck butt...

i grew up in colorado and moved to texas. i go home and piss everyone of with my texas plates on my vehicles. anyways, we were playing on mt baldy. it is southwest of colorado springs. it was near timberline. that freakin' rock was 1/4 away from my oilpan. the weather was in 5 minute intervals. sunny, rain, hail, snow, back to sunny to start it all over again. i was stuck for about 1 1/2 hours till some came up with the jeep-a-pault idea. it's a painting. it's entitled flatlander jeep at altitude... :D

This was on Disphan Springs last summer. He was being towed by a Pinzgauer and they went high, he stayed low, long story short, yanked him up on the high spot with his right side so his drivers side was in the lowest spot....rolled over nicely. Good thing the tow truck couldn't make it back there...we might have been pulling the tow truck out too...lol.

Upper Ajax (superstition mtns--central AZ), on 8-30-03.

I approached this obstical in such a fashion that the sun was in my eyes, through a dirty, bug encrusted windshield, rendering me basically blind. A normal human being would stop and look where they were going, but not me. I had already picked my line, and was sure I was on it. Well, I wasn't. I was about 8 or 10 inches off to the right. I was intending to keep my drivers side tires on those 2 large rocks that are just to the left of the drivers tires. I was far enough off to the side that I slid off of them. I fell about 16 inches onto the drivers side rock slider, and the belly pan on the passenger side.

It took about 5 minutes of rock stacking to get the tires back up high enough to let me crawl out of the mess.

Lesson of the day? watch where the heck you are going!

Anyway:

NO CHROME! I don't like shiney. Black is the word.

Doesn't diamond plate protect things? Does it come in black?

Need rock rails or whatever to protect the baby. In black.

Skids are my next purchase...still praying Santa gets me that CB though. All in black.

Did I mention I like black?

Get the armor on and then lift? Then tires and wheels? About like that?

I think I know why I like this spot...plenty of help in the Jeeping area of life.

I guess it comes down to help your brother's Jeep down the trail and lo your Jeep will make it too. Or something like that.

it's also known as Texas Canyon & Rhower Flats from the Sierra Highway entrance in Canyon Country (CA), but if you go up the Boquet Canyon side from Saugus, it's called Area 51, its way tuffer up that side.

Speaking of being stuck on flat, strait roads....this (obviously) isn't me, but happened during a run up upper ajax a couple months ago. FJ on 35's, 64:1 crawl ratio, 12 pounds in the tires, locked at both ends.....funny as hell.

I lost a bead trying to pull someone off the entrance to Deep Creek after they lost their front DS. It's not as bad as you would think the entrance used to have nice concrete paving stones so it's actually more level and safer than the dirt and rocks. Now it's just got a shitty bridge.:D :D

We went the day of a Land Rover outing, and let me tell you it was great watching Chris kick the LR's asses on those little hills. One couple was with a salesman and the wife told the husband "If that can do it, why do we need to get rid of ours?"

They broke 3 diffs, rolled 1 almost 2. Got another one hopelessly stuck, sideways, going up that first hill.

Ok, info on this pic:

This was my 1st trip to Los Coyotes about a week after i purchased my Jeep. All my buddies told me "take it out stock on the trails and get a feel for how it holds up so you'll know what you want to do to it" :P

A friend spotted this little "water hole" right off of one of the main roads and dared me to try to get through it. He went down to it and stuck a stick in it and told me the WATER was only a few INCHES deep....he FAILED to tell me the mud under the water was a few FEET deep. :eek:

Anyhow, i almost got through it by myself. The front of my Jeep in that picture was only a foot from dry land. A friend simply jumped onto my front bumper and attached a towstrap to one of my hooks and i was out of it.

This was also the birth of my Jeep's nickname because my Jeep was covered in "pond scum" when finally pulled out and after further review someone noticed that the color of my Jeep was that of "pond scum".

For now this is the only time i've been stuck, i'll be sure to post more as they happen.

Went wheeling by myself (bad idea) and slipped in a big muddy rut that burried my axle. Doesent look that bad but with open diffs there was no traction at all. Had to walk to home about an hour in the rain. Left it there overnight and recovered it with a toyota the next morning.

It took us 3 days to fully dry out so we finally said screw it and got new carpet liner.

my story is.. that kirk went through the puddle first.. and i was right behind him. then.. when i was about 1/3 into it.. kirk said 'stop i wanna take a picture' well. stupid me, actually stopped.. loss of momentum meant i couldnt get over that log. There was a pretty deep chughole on the drivers side, needed the strap for about 2 seconds, but oh well.

This is my jeep last summer.. my friend got stuck on some private property soo i pulled him out, then on my way back out i ran into a pot hole hidden by 3 foot deep mud.. almost got arrested haha good thing we were there for 9 hours, the owners of the land got tired of waiting for us to get out

Not a stuck or opps but more of a doh!!!

Brake caliper can not be swap from side to side (left has to go on the left, right on the right) :D Never knew that and now my Jeep is down because one of the bolts holding the caliper on is rounding out. :( All because I had to have hi-steer and WJ Knuckles...

I think it made his mind up about the lockers. His front wheel lifted and without a rear locker he lost traction and well... :oops:

It looks exactly like the place I go to in Joshua Tree. They have an awesome sandhill too.

Nothing glamerous here, but the first time I took the Jeep out, I went to the Badlands in Attica, Indiana in November 03. Basically, my friend went through one section of this muddy area, and I decided to take a different one. Naturally the water turned out to be pretty deep, and sloppy on th ebottom. First stuck. Took two vehicles to finally yank me out.

So we went snow camping over this weekend. and my buddy Ian decided to try out his new swampers. His 05 rubicon is very capable and has been trailblazing most of the runs for us that day. He decided to start plowing and see where it would stop him. anyways he found out his snow plow limitation. which is pretty remarkable either way. here's the pics

Here I am in "The Pit" in VA, I had gone through it a few days before without a major problem. It had been raining, so I said I wasnt going to hit that whole, but then I listened to my friend on 37"s, heres the turn out:

Here's a "fun" one out in Lawrence Welk, I had just barely unseated the bead on the front tire and was on my way back to pavment to go reseat and air back up (No one had air at the time) when this happened. It took about 5 hours to get the spare on, we couldnt find a suitable place to put the hi lift, and even when we did the ZJ would roll forward. Ended up having to have another guy drive to his house, pick up a floor jack and 4 jack stands to get the SOB up in the air enough to change the tire. Best part was, I blew the spare before the end of the trail and drove off on a wheel.

I was playing around at Truckhaven we had hit some decent trails that day, and I had no problems, so I knew somthing was going to happen, sure enough, I goto clime a small hill, stop at the top to make sure no one was on the other side, started down.......then I was upside down.

i was at truck heaven and found a hard little trail and went for it. made it with little damage. 2 weeks later went to show it to some friends and my left tires fell in and tiped over. a friend using a winch pulled my tires down i backed out of it.

I just got done climbing the falls in Dishpan and I was following Scherf68 just a little to close and didn't see the lage rock that I ended up high centering on. Duh!!

I was going downhill. I tried to straddle the first drop using the left wall of the gully, but I was moving too much and the ground was too loose. I started sliding and the front passenger tire was left with nothing under it.

Essentially it would have just been a flop but the engine weight was out over the next drop in the trail, so it just stood it up on its nose. Very little damage all considered.

Well this happend the Day I bought my toy XJ hehe I had it for about 45min got stuck in a rut that I am used to going through with ease in my Wrangler "sittin on 35s" anyways I was sitting on my front and rear axles... It was fun I had to walk all the way to the other side of our ranch to get my Wrangler haha it took about 3 hours of walking through the woods in the middle of night "12 30 - 3 am" anyways take a look

This one explains itself quite well....

I was in gilbert Mn with some friends, most of the difficult obsticals (for a stocker)had a bypass But not this one.... instead of turning around to drive 2 miles the other way i decided to go straight and try to make it the 50+ feet to the exit... i was following a group of 4 wheelers through here (my friends) and they kept goin not knowing i got stuck... then when the first one came back he said ill pull ya out (i laughed) after he destroyed his winch and then his motor (i could only say i told you so) he brough 4 more 4wheelers to try... and with 4 4wheelers i was able to get yanked enought to pop out of this mess.... this was about 20 min before the park closed... in gilbert ORV park they will send a search party after you and you get to fork over the cash for the man hours... i didnt want to stay here long :)


moral of the story.... if it looks to deep turn the F*&% around...
