View Full Version : not really a run, but also not an event...
wasn't sure where to put this... but...
What do you guys think about getting together for some wrenching? maybe followed by pizza and/or something? I still would like to rebuild my front shaft but am hesitant to pull the skid, etc... by myself. I also don't have a c press to remove the ujoints.
I was thinkin sometime this coming weekend. Whadaya think... anyone?
I would be into this but damn, I'm going to Vegas this weekend.
Next weekend back to the Kings river- I still haven't done the welding on my rig yet- ordered heavy duty brackets from Rubicon- gotta see Jim bout getting them installed.
Summer sure flies by don't it.

Brian, You don't need to pull the skid to remove the front shaft. It is actually pretty simple to rebuild. Go to stu's site. He has an awesome write up with pics.

Hey Brian! I have a C-press and I'm in the process of rebuilding my front shaft :yay: BTW, you do not need to drop the skid to get the bolts out. A 1/4 drive 8mm works great. I'm here to help :duke: :D

Damn Dude ! Just call me ....... What You only let me do rear shafts ? :yay: <------------- DUH !!!!
Damn it Jim, (I love that, it always reminds me of Star Trek, not any of those new crappy rip off shows, the real one, the one where the captain is always screwin' the hot alien babes... anyway...) the reason I posted this was to see who had any time this weekend. I didn't want to call someone and have them feel obligated to help if they had a bunch of stuff going on. I'll flip a coin in a few days and decide whether to go north or south.:D Thanks guys.:yay:

LOL, funny Brian . . . real funny. I have a little work to do to the TJ before it goes on the trail. And by a little, I mean ALOT. Besides the fact that it needs a tranny, the suspension IS NOT working! everything is just kinda rusted and frozen together. I tried to flex it out in a couple places by my house and it just lifted tires . . . no flex, zero. So I will be at home with PB Blaster, a torch, a big ass hammer, and a gigantiod breaker bar.
Chris, sorry to hear of your woes. I didn't realize your Jeep was that far from trail ready. You need an impact for that stuff.
On a brighter note... the shaft is out, now I just have to figure out who to bother... someone who's got a rusty Jeep to dismantle or a guy who's got people breathin' down his neck for bumpers... this is a tough one.

I'll be around . . . you wont be bothering me. I wouldnt mind the company . . . I'm lonely ;) I have Erik's electric impact, but that didnt even budge the bolts . . . I wonder if Air power would be better? I found that the good ole fashion maunal method works the best. :D
anybody want to install a locker!? LOL

Woo-hoo! Party at Chris's place!!!:D
Alright Chris, you win... or lose... however you want to look at it. :D I'm thinkin' I'll try and get on the road by 10 saturday morning. I'll give you a call on my way out the door. I can't wait to see if the rust on that thing is comparable to mine. :D
Jim, I still want to get up there sometime soon and go over bumper ideas.
Sarah, Id say come on down with your locker but I'm thinkin' Rick can handle it pretty well up there.:D You guys could come down anyway, get out of that heat, we could head to the beach or something after.:yay:
