And nobody that's ever run a shear calculation on a bolt, or seen many of the rolls with bolt in cages will, either

jmbrowning 03-18-05, 10:15 AM That's a great looking tube twiddler. The only thing it doesn't have is a drink holder!

A "bolt in" cage is better than no cage.
Plus, we all know that bolts aren't intended to support a large shear force, so you shouldn't use them for such a force in the first place. What "bolt in" cage MFR uses bolts in shear? I have never seen one that does (not saying there isn't any, I just wanna know so I am sure to never point someone towards that MFR).
As for seeing a roll with a "bolt in" cage, I have seen them. The cages are usually destroyed, but the drivers/passengers all walked away. The cage therefor did it's job.

Thank you, my feelings too. A bolt-in would work for me since I'll not be doing ultra hard core stuff, just looking for a little added protection w/o having to alter much if anything. This is possible.

JeepGal 03-18-05, 01:56 PM Tom,
You dont need to be doing "ultra hard core stuff" to need a nice cage. A wrong line at TDS (which is usually very easy stuff) can result in a nasty roll. Usually the wrong line rock crawling will result in your Jeep on its side, but not upside down. Unless of course, you end up with your nose or rear pointing in the air, and go nose over tail or vice versa. Which Ive seen some close calls.
Anyway, as theyve said, a bolt in is better then nothing.
Tam :)

Dukes69 03-30-05, 02:19 AM Hey Chriss, ya gotta spend money to make money.
Trust me, I know  :D
DozerDan 03-30-05, 04:29 PM Nice set up.
Be preppared for total frustration as you make stupid mistakes, which normally only occur after about the 3rd or 4th perfect bend in a peice you manage to mess up the last one hahah
I am about to buy some more dies for mine, I wish i could swing for the hydro set up, but for now I pull the handle.
And pull the handle.... and pull... you get the idea.
Cages are alot of fun to build. Its kinda like a giant art project that you need an understanding in engineering to do.

Chris: I'm willing to sacrifice my Jeep... I mean.... I've been looking at getting a sport cage built if you are looking for some income to pay off that fancy tube bender thingy machine...... :-P
p.s. I'm still taken back how GREEN your grass is. wow.

Wicked - Do the beers come with it? :P
DozerDan 03-30-05, 07:32 PM Nah the beer is optional. However I like to include it in all of my projects so it doesnt feel left out.
