pants go brown

So I took my Jeep to AAMCO, you know beep beep, the tranny place. Marshall (the previous owner) and I had thought there was a problem with the transmission. We were both wrong! The tranny is fine, no problems . . . but the D35 is fugged. Looks like one of the rollers in the bigger roller bearing popped out . . . bad stuff could have happened. I got lucky I guess. Here are some pics.

That grey stuff on the rag is metal shavings

You cant really see it, but in this pic it shows the missing roller

and now for the fix . . . Duct tape, zip lock bag and front wheel drive. :D I pulled the pinion gear and plastic baggied and duct taped the pinion hole. hopefull this will hold in the gear oil for the time being.

So now my Jeep is getting bigger axles, lockers and gear sooner then expected. I just have to figure out what rear axle I want.

you want a Currie HP 9". I think you know who you want to get it from. Of course there's always the Pro Rock 60!!!:yay: Oh yeah, and get a damn ARB!!! You'll love it!!!:yay: Man I love spending other peoples money!!!:D

On the bright side... you don't have to spend the $ for a new tranny!!!:8

I almost forgot... this backs up everything I've been told. 35 (even open) + 33s or bigger = bad.

It depends what you like to fix and how often you like to fix it. My friend runs a D35 non-C clip, with 35's and a locker. He replaces axle shaft often enough that he keeps them in the box in the Jeep. But he doesn't want to upgrade yet. Go figure.

The bearing falling out isn't the fault of the weak 35. It could have happened to anyone at anytime.

I assume that you have recovered the MIA roller? If not, might I suggest you find it before it becomes lodged somewhere you don't want it to?

You could get a currie!! that would be sweet or you could get the super 35 kit with an arb for around $900.

Arb locker and compressor is the best wouldn't go with anything other than that. got my arb locker installed a few weeks ago and love it..

Got my arb for 575!!!:D

Tri County Gear has great prices on ARBs... And I say pass right over the Currie 9 and go for a Tera60R or CRD!
