View Full Version : 97 4.0L spark plug gap??? blkTJ 05-07-05, 04:23 PM anybody got a fsm handy??? :D Davisrats 05-07-05, 04:33 PM Is it on the SMOG sticker? Sorry I don't have a Jeep that new. sarah 05-07-05, 05:05 PM .035 :) tjrubicon 05-07-05, 09:13 PM ^^^^what she said ;) Black & Tan TJ 05-08-05, 08:02 AM Yes it's .035, I replaced mine not too long ago w/Champion Truck Plugs. They were pre-gaped but not @.035 so be sure to check them. My year has the coil rail, I made sure to get/use anitseize and Dielectric grease, easy job too. B&T TJ blkTJ 05-08-05, 04:54 PM yay it runs!!! :yay: not that it didn't before but, since i did the plugs, wires, cap and rotor thingy, there was plenty i could have screwed up. :D I did anti seize the plugs, what's with this dielectric grease??? tjrubicon 05-08-05, 04:58 PM I believe it (dielectric grease) helps keep the plug wires from "sticking" to the plugs. Ever went to change your plugs and start pulling the plug wires off and all of a sudden, the wire pulls from the boot and now you have a spark plug boot stuck on the plug. It can be a real pita when that happens. Dukes69 05-09-05, 12:36 AM actually its more to keep out water and junk. Helps maintain a good connection and fights corrosion. :D rick 05-20-05, 11:57 PM And, since it's a dielectric compound, it conducts electricity. So don't go slatherin that junk all over everything, just enough to do the job. blkTJ 05-21-05, 12:03 AM Is it on the SMOG sticker? you know... after looking around under the hood recently, it is there. :D |
