The San Bernardino National Forest will be upgrading the Fire restriction from "Moderate" to "High" next Friday (22 July 2005)

Under "High" Fire Danger;

Campfires - Developed Campgrounds and Picnic Areas. No fires in Yellow
Post sites.

All other restrictions under "Moderate" apply.

Campstoves and Lanterns are okay throughout the forest. (Propane and
Gas - no wood or charcoal)


Shooting on 1N09 (off Hwy 330) is closed until the end of Fire Season.

Bringing this back up to the top - as we found (and removed) several fire rings and wood piles yesterday, plus talked to a few folks with firewood in their vehicles.

Bummer...
we went upto yellow post 5 the weekend before last and they told us that it was going to be the last weekend they would be giving out fire permits. I love the yellow post sites.

If it's any consolation - we stayed at a lower fire restriction level this year longer than I can remember in a long time.

Had quite a few fire rings in the 3N16/3N02 (entrance to John Bull area) that we dispersed, as well as a wood pile. Had a young couple in a Toyota pickup that I stopped to talk to - they had enough wood in the bed to keep warm until winter. I'm sure they founs _some_ other way to keep warm :)
