well, i have finally made time to make something to fill the space behind the soft doors that is left uncovered without a soft top frame in place.
i used some aluminum plate, shaped it to fit the big ass hole that is left there behind the upper door, and installed it.
to make it look a bit nicer i covered it with some fabric from an old soft top to make it look more like it belonged.
i am pretty happy with the results. it certainly fills the gap, and actually looks pretty decent.
i'll get some more pics of the finished product tomorrow. there are still a couiple of loose ends i need to take care of on this.

i still have to get some stainless screws to hol it in place, and some velcro to hold the loose flap to the roll bar.
when it is all finished, it is going to look great, and do what it was designed to do.

now that is custom deee-lux! good idea, and definitely looks much nicer than the previous cardboard/duct tape mod.

Very nice but I liked the duct tape version better ;)

How come you did not extend the surrounds all the way to the windshield?

that would be a huge piece of aluminum, and very difficult to get the bends done nicely in my driveway.

maybe you could have done it in two pieces? Just idea/suggestion.

Either way it still looks good :)

yes!! how long does it take you to remove the gap-fillers when you want the doors off?
