So its that time again to make one of those leaps into new territory. This leap is beadlocks.

As I see it there are 3 options:

Single Beadlocks like Champion or TR
Staun Inner Beadlocks + some new rims
Dual Beadlocks aka Hutchinson Rockmonsters

Single or Staun with new rims will run about the same $280 a wheel while the Rockmonsters are $360.

For once, money is not an issue on this one. I had decided to go with the Rockmonster but talking with a friend has made me look at some other options.

There is a fourth option, getting beadlocks mounted onto existing rims but the hassle of driving 4-5 hours round trip to drop the wheels off then doing it again once there ready seem to negate any savings.

I have been happy with the performance of my stauns.

that said, I have become something of a valve stem replacement guru. :D

it seems all of the different types of beadlocks have their positives and negatives. if I had one suggestion to make it would be to get a dual lock, oh yeah, and don't get steel rims!!! :yay:

I ran Trailreadys for a while, a bit pricey, but still a killer set of wheels. As for steal, for the most part Dukes is correct, but check out the Allied Rockathons there a little different with an inner lip to help locate the bead of the tire, everyone I've seen with then seems to like them and they even balance well...

The Staun's are interesting, seems like they're best of all worlds. They were invented by a Brit so they've gotta be pretty good...Apparantly they even act like run flats if you hole the tire and will save your rim until you can get to a safe spot to change the wheel....

I had decided to not do steel wheels this time so no worries about that :D

As Brian said, everyone has there pros & cons which is making this such a hard choice.

I am starting to lean towards the staun but Im sure when the wind changes directions so will my decision.

I made my decision. Going with a set of Champion Beadlocks. I estimate my cost will be about $280 each.

It was a tough decision but what really sold me was blkTJs comment about valve stems and how the Hutchinson or Staun provided no protection for the valve stem and another lengthy conversation with Dukes69. I am sure he is very happy I finally made a decision. :D

While the Champion are single locks, I figure if I ever have a problem losing inner beads I can throw some Staun in at a later date.

but you forget that where a steel wheel bends a aluminum wheel breaks. Was at moab when one of my buddys hit a rock pretty hard and bent his steel wheel. We were able to bend back into shap with a hammer enough for it to hold air and still be used as a spare. An Aluminum wheel would have broken and been completly useless and he would have been with out a spare.

Umm Is there a way this forum can set up voting? With all of the product and the experience can a list be made of beadlocks and voted on for what is # 1 choice?
