I got to thinking I really have not explained the benefits of running Amsoil synthetic oil, so I wanted to try and explain why it costs more than conventional (dino) oil and the reason you should consider it.

Amsoil is a completly man made product taking up NO fossil fuels to produce.
Amsoil is GUARANTEED for up to 25,000 miles between oil changes (I know that seems like a long time but I have done it on my Jeep and have the oil analysis to prove it).
Amsoil protects better at start up, Amsoil has a very low operating temperature so on those cold mornings it flows better than any other oil and thus protects better at initial start up.
By not having to change your oil but once a year you are actually saving BOTH time and money, and the enviroment. Think about it, you are using less product so there is less to dispose of.
Amoil oil filters are also good for the same 25,000 miles so no need to change the filter mid way through.
Some people think it must be expensive to ship oil all over the country, but it really is not. Amsoil must have a deal with UPS because the shipping is lower than what it would cost for you or I to ship the exact same box.
By using Amsoil in the complete drivetrain (engine, trans, diffs, etc) you lower the total rolling resistance and thus improve MPG and even HP (granted you will not see a huge jump in HP, but every little bit helps right?).
So if you are looking for the best protection, longest life, best performance out there, look no further than Amsoil.

And if you are looking for the BEST customer service available, look no further than 4x4oil.com (http://www.4x4oil.com), I am all about building relationships with my clients and converting them over to long term clients, so I always offer the best pricing possible and the best service you could find anywhere, PERIOD!!!

So give me a shot and I promise you that you will not be disappointed.

So just to clarify. With Amsoil you only have to do an oil change every 25,000 miles?

That is absolutely correct!!!!!!!!!

The best thing to do is do oil sampling every 3-4k miles. I do mine every 4k miles. I take a sample of oil and send it off to an independant lad that does a complete oil analysis on the oil and then they basically tell me when the life of the oil has been used and when I should change it.

The first time I ran Amsoil in my ZJ I left it in for just over 25k miles, did not filter changes in that time (oil or air) and no oil samples either, when I changed the oil and sent a sample in the sample came back as a CAUTION, not an OMG change it NOW.

So yes 25k is very doable!!!

When I used dino oil I changed every 3K miles. With synthetic I still change at 5-7K miles. There was a good independant test floating around the net recently done with a new camaro, and oil comparisons with oil change intervals up to 18K miles. Amsoil was better than Mobil 1 by a hair, but both were still providing protection at a very extended drain.

The BMW and Mercedes both are very dirty at 7K or so, both came with and require synthetic oil. Both have change intervals over 10K but a reliable mechanic with a ton of experience says don't wait that long. Besides, if you're changing it yourself it's still about the same cost as a quick-lube, about half of what a dealer charges. The Mercedes came with 4years of free maintenance, but it's such a hassle to take it in I still changed the oil myself, with Amsoil of course. Both require a special tool to change the cartridge filters, cost me about $60 for the tools.

BTW, the ATF is some fantastic stuff, will actually make your slush-box work better. Also provides double the drain interval vs. standard ATF. And they have some new formulations for manual type transmissions.

I use the whole line, motor oils, ATF, diff fluids, grease, etc, in all five of my rigs and swear by it. I started using Amsoil back in the 70's when it first came out and it was great back then. I went away from it when I moved to CA 13 years ago as I didn't have a good source. Now with their local (Vegas) warehouse and quick shipping I have resumed extensive use of the product line. One of the best features is the product line is very broad, covering virtually every application.

I have a number of friends that have switched over and all are very pleased. Dealer prices via their online store. I too would be happy to set any of you up under my account.

Chris,

I don't want to argue with you but why change it every 5-7k miles?? If you are doing oil sampling and the reports come back clean there is NO reason to change it before 25,000 miles or 35,000 miles if using the Series 2000 oil.

I do regular oil samples and send them out to an independant lab to ensure that I am not running the oil longer than it should be.

I am a dealer and as such can also sign people up as prefered customers or dealers if you are interested (just one reason why I became a vendor here and started this thread), although signing people up is NOT the main focus of how I run 4x4oil.com the main focus for me is offering a GREAT product for a GREAT price and offering INCREDIBLE service.

So anyway, thanks for the comments Chris, but if your intent is to recruit Amsoil dealers perhaps you could become a vendor here and start your own thread.

Dirk has expressed to me that it's rude for me to mention that I too can offer the product line in his thread; he's probably right and for that I apologize.

I have mentioned in previous threads that I am a dealer for the line, and I'm registered as a vendor on the site, so it's not like I'm just trying to 'ride his coat-tails'. But I see that it could be construed as 'horning in' on his thread by mentioning my status as a dealer.

I'm not trying to 'build' a business with Amsoil, I told Dirk if he is then more power to him. Please accept my humble apologies.

Chris,

No worries, thank you for your apoligy and good luck to us both.

Trust me I am glad to have some support.
