Saw a couple of them at the offroad expo. They're damn cool if you ask me. Mini Hummer!!! They already have all kinds of aftermarket stuff for them including lifts and body armor. Saw one on the highway a few days ago too so they are getting out there. Next year this time they'll be commonplace. Oh, BTW, Hey Danny, waz up?

If it's not going to see the trail, they can get it in 4x2...

GASP!!! A jeep 4x2? That's completely sacreligious!!! The new jeeps are cool with me. I love the stock bumper design. If it were possible to duplicate with a strong material, other than plastic, and still keep it from weighing a metric ton...i'd totally do it. The windows I don't like. Can ya get them is manual windows instead of power? Cause the window motor adds weight to the doors, not to mention the hassle of unplugging whosits and whatsits every time you wanna take the doors off. Or even better; does it come with half doors....ever? The new jeep motor should be pretty sweet. That V6 should save a whole lot more on gas. Instead of making 15mpg on a good day...it'll be making that on a bad day! it's got a slightly longer wheelbase...which means the breakover is not as great as the TJ's and YJ's, but it's still an extremely capable vehicle! I just don't like the unlimiteds....come tot hink of it...I never really ever liked the unlimited all that much. But IMHO they are pretty sweet Jeeps, the new Wranglers. There are things I like and don't like, but I won't go completely psycho like people did when the YJ came out >.< (Except the new unlimiteds....ew...no...4 doors....NEVER!!!)

It may be sacreligious, but Jeep has been doing it for years and years with the DJ and XJ to name two.

Jeep did a nice job on the plugs. About as easy as unplugging a 4 pin trailer connector. And, there are manual windows standard.

Or even better; does it come with half doors....ever?

The ones we drove on the Rubicon had a few with half doors.

I don't know the mileage, but driving them the motor was just fine.

it's got a slightly longer wheelbase...which means the breakover is not as great as the TJ's and YJ's, but it's still an extremely capable vehicle!

Wheelbase is not the only factor that affects breakover angle. Like most, you've assumed that Jeep kept all other things the same and just made the wheels further apart.

They also raised everything underneath up higher and put larger tires on with bigger fender openings. The JK actually has a better breakover than a TJ.

I just don't like the unlimiteds....come tot hink of it...I never really ever liked the unlimited all that much. But IMHO they are pretty sweet Jeeps, the new Wranglers. You may not like them, but I suspect they will keep up with SWB sales quite nicely.

Thanks for that lovely insite dude. I didn't know the JK's had a better Breakover than the TJ...but I still don't like the 4door idea...it's just wrong.

Those came from the event I was staff at. Pic 313, I would be the one with the ponytail, yellow shirt, and trail guide hat looking very bored.

are there any articles on the JK's V6? the intake manifold looks interesting, to say the least. Like, straight tubes from the throttle body to the cylinders. Looks to be a pretty perfoamnce freindly setup. And a 3.8L V6 is in no way small. I had one on in a Ford Taurus, and it would get up and go...right quick. The 3.8 I had wasn't a very high rev motor, but would put out oobs and gobs of low end torque in low RPMs...hope it's the same for these ^.^

BTW...how hard is the Rubicon Trail?

Rubicon can be completed in a stock vehicle WITH experience (and some damage) You need at least a few inches of lift, bigger tires (31's+), rocker protection and skids.

Lockers are not necessary but are nice :)

I personally drove a JK Rubi up and down Cadillac Hill until I couldn't take it any more and never dented or scratched anything. That's in completely stock showroom trim.

We had several come in from Loon to the Springs with engineers driving them at various times over a two week period and the worst damage was to the front corners of the bumpers.

Just make sure if you're buying one that it's 4x4.... It's crazy to think that there's a wrangler isn't, but it's true!!! I guess that's the soccer mom package! I can't wait to start seeing the new JKs on the trail!!! I know a lot of people are still talking crap, but in my opinion, they look good, and have some really good potential... better than a TJ.

Heresay:
-Only need something like 3" of lift to fit 35s (no SYE, vibes, etc.)
-Longer control arms, so lift higher before needing expensive complete long arm lift
-Better fuel econemy (even though it's a V6, not an I6, gotta look at the positives!)
-Rubicons have electric sway bar disconnects!
-More room! Tons of room compared to a TJ!

The Rubi's we drove came with 32's stock. A budget boost is all that's needed to run 35's.

^ Cause the I6 is the shiznat besides a rotary. haha I have the I6 in my XJ and L24 I6 in my 240Z. Most badass piston motor ever.... haha

Why, the V6 works just fine.

I have something for inline motors. :)

Plus, looking in the new engine compartment of the new JK is slightly more intimidating than looking at the I6. It's like a honda... not lots of room to work. Although I saw (at the Offroad Expo) that somehow Brad already has an OBA kit for the new JK! Even with all that new stuff in the engine compartment! I just think the I6s will get more mileage out of them, and also all the torque they produce is so low in the RPM range.

Saw a stock 07 Sahara with no lockers anda d35? rear climb the rock piles in Coyote Canyon in Anza yesterday. I was totally impressed- the H2 and H3 he was with had a hard time keeping up. I especially enjoyed having to spot the guy struggling in the H2.
