1999 Grand Cherokee Laredeo 4x4 6 cylnder.

Can I take out the transfer case and make it a 2-wheel drive. some say yes and some say no.

I see two potential problems. nothing to keep the trans fluid in or the yoke/drive flange on.

So you're saying that other than those two things, it should be OK?! :D

It's not as simple as removing the t-case. You have to convert the tranny from a 4wd unit to a 2wd. This will include a new tailshaft, outputshaft, tail housing. You'll also quite possibly need a longer or shorter driveshaft. I'm sure there is other stuff to. So to answer your question of if you can just remove the t-case and run in 2wd . . . No.

thanks for the info. I guess I will be trying to find a new transfer case.
