So the other day I noticed a clicking sound coming from the front end of my jeep. I couldn't see anything at the time...so long story short, I r&r'd the u-joints and one wheel bearing. But, I still have a clicking noise. it only happens when I'm going slow in a turn...like at a parking lot. I've also noticed that when in 4x4 mode the front end seems to bind up and jump around while turning. The tie-rod ends are ok, the alignment is good, and the ball-joints are good too. What the heck is going on? Can anyone enlighten me? Thanks in advance.

What's your set up? Detoit? ARB? Stocker? Hubs? Are you in 4 lo on hard surface or dirt?

It's got a D30 or 35 stock set-up, No lockers or locking hubs. It'll do it in either hi or lo on pavement. Also, it's disco.

Don't use 4 hi or lo on dry pavement. It binds your suspension somethin fierce and will break something if you keep doing it. That's probably whats going on.

What are the miles on it. It could be the cv ball in you front drive line. I would check it out. Worn out or it might have a flat spot it it.

It's got a whopping 208k and still climbing stong. What's a cv ball? Is it the double cordone joint in my front drive shaft? Also, I have noticed that rarely when wheelin' my T/C will slip out of 4 lo... kind of like it goes into neutral. WTF?

208 isnt too bad, and yes its the front driveshaft, where it ataches to the t/case, and sounds like your linkage needs adjusting or you need motormounts..

Sounds like you have the same set up as me. If it is only on pavement when going slow, its normal, I have it too. Open diff or not its going to bind a little in tight corners in 4wd. The front tires skip a little and I almost think, I must have a locker up front, but alas, no locker. Just normal operation of 4wd to the front axel in a tight turn.
I would just monitor the noise for any changes.
Does it do it in 2wd?

It doesn't hop and skip in 2wd...but every once in a while it'll make a clicking noise. After checking out some things I've found that everything is normal now, and the clicking sound is getting more rare. Thanks guys for all your help.
