I was just told that Nth Degree is out of business.
Heard it from another reputable shop in Thousand Oaks.

Yes, there was a formal announcement by them:
Dear Nth Degree customer planning to attend WWII:

It is with great regret that we announce the closing of Nth Degree Mobility. We have suffered a series of setbacks over the past 7 months that we have been unable to recover from, and so with great regret, we have closed our doors as of last week. This also means that Wheeling Weekend II is now cancelled – with double apologies for the late notice/bad timing! We apologize for every inconvenience our sudden closure causes you, but it was not for us to decide. We have greatly appreciated all of your support over the years, as we have/had one of the strongest customer bases of any company we know of…and we’re sorry to have to disappoint all of you. We sincerely thank you for believing in us enough to buy our products and liking us enough to be planning to visit/wheel with us next weekend, but sadly this will not be possible as we will not be here nor is there a ‘here’ to gather at.

For what it’s worth, we are in talks with a well known manufacturer who may pick up and carry on the Nth Degree line of products; if that happens you will hear from them when they announce it (not sure how soon that might come).

Take care and may all of your off-road adventures be awesome!

Nicole & Jim

Rumor on the net is they are going to be taken over by AEV and their products will be available in the future again.

That is a bummer, I thought their products were first class.

Thanks HotRod . . . I'll give Quinn a call . . . I can always use a good excuse to get up to Big Bear (was up there yesterday actually!) so perhaps I can add some armor and test it out all in the same trip! I'll post up if I have any luck.

No luck getting in touch with Quinn yet . . . I've called a couple of times and left a couple of messages. :( Don't want to be a stalker but I don't want to wait and be too late either . . . anybody know of any other shops that usually have the Nth Diff Sliders and Oil Pan Skid in stock that may have some inventory on hand? 4WheelParts said they could try to order them for me but they have not been able to get in touch with Nth . . . no answer when they call to order.

I was just there and he is busy! It's best to Email them. I don't know if he will sell any of the parts he has, he indicated they were for previous customers that would need them in case of any warranty problems.

One of the other sites indicated parts/kits would be available in a few weeks soon as the buy-out is finalized.

Thanks for the info . . . I spoke with Quinn today and he does have a couple of the oil skids but only rear sliders (bare metal no powdercoat) for my Dana 44 . . . no front sliders for the Dana 44, which is the one I was actually most concerned about. He mentioned that the lawyers were in the process of hashing out a deal so AEV (or something close) can start producing Nth's parts. So hopefully they'll be back in production soon.

Hey Gene . . . do you happen to know which site might have the parts available once the buyout is finalized so I can check with them too?

You'd be surprised how much abuse those spinny thingys can take. For what its worth, I've seen those stingers/slider deals stop a rig cold on the rocks.

Seriously? Did the hardware collapse and send the slider up into the drive shaft or what? The Nth slider sure looks like a clean and tough design and after kissing the rocks with my front drive shaft on John Bull, I thought I'd better look into armoring up that area. Luckily I just barely nicked a rock and didn't seem to throw the balance off or anything, but when I mentioned to a couple of people that I'd made contact with the drive shaft, the look on their faces and the tone of their voices as they said "that's not good" caused me to consider looking into the slider.

Before I run out and spend 500 bucks on a set of sliders, does anyone else have any success or horror stories?

wow, really glad AEV picked up the Nth parts, I have a nth lift and was getting concerned about who would be offering some of the replacement bushings as some of the Jyro joint stuff look hard to be replaced if not from Nth.

I suppose you are talking about the Skid plate Nth calls the slider?
Have had the slider stinger combo on my Jeep for 2 seasons now, Dragged it over the Bull, down Holcom and just over whatever gets in the way. is a great setup as it not only is a solid skid for the diff but protects the U joint as well.
I may not be a JV kind of wheeler but will pass out abuse of the trail as I go down it and have been known to put dents in my currie rock rails and have scraped major paint off my bely up skids and the Slider is getting all kinds of rusted scratch marks all over it. I recomend the slider as a great skid for the rear, Now yes I have gotten hung on the slider stinger combo, antime you put metal down in a line like that you present yourself for that trouble, but then I have see RE's long arm kit hang up a newly built rig on the training rock pile at Hungry Valley, It was not the fault of the kit or the driver, just the jeep got into a bad area for that kit and the driver did not have the experience to with the kit to know it was bad. Kinda like me hanging up on the stinger, I know that I do not want to put it in a sitch like that again and will take a line a foot to the right. You have to know your rigs down and up sides.

PS. Have the slider on the rear, have a poison spider ring protector on the front diff

I have front and rear on mine, slides over all the rock I have landed on. They keep the steel flush with the cast iron on the bottom, I used to slide on a rock till I hit the lower lip on the diff. then stop. Now it's like a ramp and just slides over. Also protects the lower U joints.

I also just bought a set of Riddler covers, they are tapered like a small ramp, and the bolts are protected. I have hit the stock covers so many times I could barely get the bolts out!

So far for me the steel slides over the rocks better than cast iron, and appears to take the abuse better. So many choices out there Joe, good luck!

Give me a heads up when they are available or if you can get your hands on a front and rear slider set for my Dana44s(F&R) . . . still looking. I checked out the Warn diff cover at the Expo and am actually leaning toward a beefier diff cover like the Riddler . . . I need to flush my diffs anyway!

Any word on Sliders for both F/R Dana 44 diffs??? Also, I saw the SOLID diff covers for about 50 bucks online . . . I need to change my diff fluid very soon and figured it'd be the perfect time to swap them out. Anybody know how these hold up on the rocks and if they will fit my Rubi with a 2" BB? Will changing the cover change the amount of fluid it holds and if so, do I just fill 'er up as much as possible or to a certain level?

That's good to hear, especially seeing that they are like 30 bucks a pop cheaper than the Warn Diff Covers that I was thinking about prior. As far as the install . . . is it a big pain in the arse or should the average schmo be able to do it without too much problem?

Its easy as taking bolts out and putting them back on, I have heard they are far better than the warns! After all my research on sliders, diff covers etc, i will be going with the solids! When i get some more $$$$

That sounds about right seeing that the stealership wanted about 300 bucks just to drain and refill the diffs. That fluid must be pricey!!!

First well Said Gwjvw.:D Personally I have had the Stinger welds break once, replaced by Nth, two rear sliders, a weld broke on one, steel bend cracked on the replacement, Nth replaced 1st one, I welded the second and it still works great, My TT cracked, and I beat the crap out of my rockin'Jeep too. I still stand by Nth/AEV.
Joe the sliders work fantastic as does the rest of Nth's products. Even guys that were Anti-Nth lift-kit, have been running sliders front and rear. The sliders are great addition and do what they were designed to do. Just don't be mislead, everything breaks! Maintain and inspect things like welds, and joints, etc, before and after trails or even long trips. Bolts come lose, things break, you can count on that. Nth had t-shirts one year I'll never forget... that said," We suck less". I respected them. Buy a little mig, you'll use it for the rest of your life!

I have heard Jan. or Feb. 08, I would prepare for for a later release date just so your not disappointed.... but I know they are working hard to release as soon as they can.
My suggestion is PRE ORDER NOW... with a reputable installation shop like "All J Products" in Big Bear. Or if you will be doing the install yourself call AEV Direct and hound them to place an order! Initially I think the dealers will have the stock though. JMHO

If you started with the Diff covers and "added" the sliders later for instance, because of avalibility issues.... in my opinion, you could confidently do the "Bull".
