Was in the Jeep for about 1-1/2 years, it was a NOS original. Will fit 92 thru Early 99 YJ/TJ - WITHOUT the electronic controlled torque converter clutch. Less then 10,000 miles on Trans and rebuilt converter. This also includes a deep sump/ finned aluminum pan, Flex Plate, CPS. $350

Offers? Son badly needs the money so we can try to fix his ailing trans. We bought this one not realizing the change in 99 and are stuck w/ it and a still failing trans.

I wish you luck on the sale, but just a point of clarification, I believe all TJ's 97+ had electronic lock up converters. My 98 had it and I just swapped that 98 trans into a 2002 and it works great. Do you happen to have a pic of the trans, especially the driverside? There should be a round, 2 pin connector near the rear of the pan rail. If its got that then it should work til 02.

Edit: I just remembered we had to splice in some wiring, but it all works. Feel free to call me if you need some help.

Correct - The 32RH was used on all 97-02 6 cylinder TJ's and does have a lockup converter for 3rd gear.

My understanding is that the 99 and up had the torque converter clutch solenoid that was computer controlled and part of the emission system and the earlier models didn't? I'll cross my fingers and take another look at it and hope I am wrong.

Double check - I believe they were all a PCM controlled lock from 97+.

In any case let us know - Always something to learn!

Pretty sure that's not the case, otherwise my 98 trans wouldn't be working in my 2002.

    32RH Automatic Transmission

In 1992, the TF999 received a PCM controlled electronic locking torque converter. This new arrangement was renamed the 32RH. The locking torque converter reduces operating temperatures, and increases fuel economy by eliminating slipping at higher speeds. The lower operating temperature prolongs the life of the transmission. The 32RH was used behind the 4.0L I-6 in the YJ, XJ, and TJ until 2003 when the 42RLE replaced it. The designation has a meaning behind it.
    3 - number of speeds
    2 - torque handling (2-300 ft-lbs)
    R - rear wheel drive
    H - hydraulically controlled
