  • Trail Report: Prospecting around Lucerne Valley

I have an area I've been prospecting for gold. With my not-so-expert-knowlege of geology, geography, history, and plain luck, yesterday I found some silver ore at the site I've been working. It's a small amount and not gold but still fun to find. I need to learn how to take better photos.

Look just to the elft of my thumb

I've considered Silver. The Mohawk mine above the Mitsubishi plant was a Silver producer.

do a google search locally for gold panning. you'll be suprised at what some people have found. been wanting to metal detect personally.

I've been told the creek that runs down by the scale house has some color in it, never tried the spot myself. I think you'd have to exit the 15 on Hwy 138 and double back on the frontage rd by Mc Donalds to access it?

They say Azusa Canyon is a good spot also.

                            Nice little find Roger.

Anyone know how hot gold has to be to melt it?

                              Gary,

Gold melts at 1064.43 degrees. Need some help?

East Fork of the San Gabriel River in Azusa Canyon still provides decent color for gold panners.
