Nice heads-up. Wish I had $1200, because that could be a helluva deal. He's wrong about the rear. It's not D60, it's Sterling 10.25, which is a lot stronger.

That sucks. That's what sucks about CL sometimes. I always tell CL buyers it's for sale until someone brings me cash. I've had too many of those flake out on me after wasting my time. Deals like that you have to move fast on. There will be others.

You want an older one any way. Anything after 79 has the short drivers side tube. A b!tch to get in. At least on a CJ.

Those '79 HP D60s seem to be running about $900-$1200 out here. What better time to make that axle work than when he's building the frame?

These axles are for MY Jeep, not Nicks. He can get whatever he wants as long as he doesn't screw with mine.

The short tube 60s arent that bad you can always use these

Or get creative with a grinder and you can cut a few inches of the cast off

That's what I did. The real issue at least for me was the pumpkin being offset so for to the left. Got in the way with the frame. Probably not as big of a deal with a wider TJ frame.

You can get a 79 D60 housing with outers of your choice shipped to your door for around 1000 bucks
You don't want to use the stock carrier and axle shafts anyway so why bother with all that stuff

I hear you, but personally, I'd be happy to throw an Aussie Locker in it and run it stockish for awhile. Stock D60 axles in 35 spl (I'd have to double check on that year) would be a big step up from where I am now. Them thar axles even gots them disc brakes on 'em.

the stock outers are 30 spline. anyway they can throw those in also. I wanted the good stuff in there so decided less shipping weight was a good thing
