==========

From the moderators: We have a zero tolerance policy for drinking on the trail, this also applies to getting drunk and going on a night run. Our trails are forever in danger of being closed and having a bunch of drunk Jeepers making a mess doesn't help matters. That being said, if anyone has a problem with this, don't bother joining us. In addition, if our mods/admin see anyone exhibiting the aforementioned behavior, we wont hesitate to ban said member. If it's a buddy of yours, not an MJR member, please keep track of your friends. I'd hate to hold you responsible for others actions. Also, please PLEASE try to stay single file on the trail and don't stray from the pack, if possible. Alot of offshoots may not be legal and therefore we need to respect that.

COUGAR BUTTS DRIVERS CHALLENGE

Come on out and test your driving skills in the Drivers Challenge using
you own rig on some of the original obstacles Mike had laid out in the
Buttes. I'm sure you know the runs. Bull Frog, Cake Walk, On The
Rocks, Crazy 8, and others.
There will be 3 different classes. Stock, modified and advanced.
This will not be a race of any kind. The object will be to get through
each obstacle as clean and mistake free as possible. Points will be
assessed based simply on your driving skills through the obstacles.
The best drivers will be named the first annual Cougar Buttes Drivers
Challenge best drivers.

Please sign in if you are planning on doing the challenge and let us
know what class you will be driving in. Stock would be anything with
less then 33" tires. Modified 33" to 35" tires, and Advanced would
be anything with larger then 35" tires. You can run any type
suspension, engine, etc, but you must be street legal and carry all
mandatory and standard equipment. Fire Extinguisher, battery straps,
seat belts, etc. More information will available at the event.

There's also going be finisher plaques given out to the best drivers in each class. If you don't get a chance to sign up on this site, you can still do it the morning of the event. Oct. 19th. Best of all, it's all free except for the t-shirts. Just come on out.

Saturday's Mine Run

We'll be exploring some of the mines in the area as well as checking out a couple of springs, historical sites, and geological sites. There are no trails harder than moderate. Stock jeeps should be fine. If not, we'll help you since no Jeep is ever left behind!

I could use a count on those interested in a mine run Saturday. Please let me know if you are going. Thx

It will be all day.
Wear good shoes - no sandals or flip-flops
Hats are highly recommended since a low ceiling is unforgiving...
Bring a good flashlight or headlamp with fresh batteries
Bring a camera!
Bring lots of water
Bring a lunch and snacks

BTW - Add 146.550 MHz for the ham frequency

Have you guys decided on a central camp spot for the group? Our favorite spot in the area might be a lot of fun as there are some fun warm up areas and even challenging areas close by... Coordinates of our favorite spot are +34 degrees 29' 20.12", -116 degrees 49' 22.26". We call this area "The Cove".
Regards,
Randy

Randy we were looking at it today. Which way do you come in to get to it? Granite rd is the only road that doesn't have deep sand on it this year.

The recent rains flooded most of the roads out there, so we have to stick to the one's that aren't too soft. Pole line Rd and Granite are both pretty good.

Curtis, from Camp Rock Rd we usually take Cambria out to the site... We haven't been out there since the rains, but that road has always been very passable in the past.
Regards,
