  • Trail Run: First trip to Moab

We are heading out to Moab next week for the first time. How hard will it be getting around point to point without having a tagged vehicle? Are the cops tough on this? I plan on towing my jeep to and from each trail, but I was told that we will not end up where we start on some of the trails and may need to drive back to my trailer.

Here's a list of the trail we plan on hitting:

    Pritchetts (almost guaranteed),
    BFE (fo sho)
    Golden and Crack,
    Cliffhanger,
    Behind Rock's,
    Metal Masher,
    Cliffhanger,
    Moab Rim,
    Cliffhanger,
    Rusty Nail,
    Hells Revenge w/ the escalator
    and more.

You must really like Cliffhanger, if your doing it twice. LOL Looking fwd to getting this info, for when I go, next year.
It was like that when I got here.

Thanks for the info. I did a little Googling at work today it seems like the town of Moab is used to having buggies run around town and that the cops typically don't mess with anyone unless they are doing something stupid.

Personally I would not take the chance.

Just saw this on another site for something to do:

Just run Pritchet and behind the rocks the same day and then run it backwards. Or have a friend stage the trailer and truck for ya.
Same goes for Rusty nail, golden crack, gold bar and posion spider if you do the golden crack afterwards. Metal masher starts and returns from the same spot that you come out of from Golden crack and Gold bar

I'll be there also. Look for an 05 silver ram, with a huge truck camper, and a stock Silver TJ.
We have three dogs, two heelers, and one ankle biter!

Someone else put the trip together, so I'm just tagging along. The trails have already been changed:

Saturday - Hells Revenge then Moab Rim
                  Sunday - Pritchetts
Monday - Rusty Nail and Eagles Dare
Tuesday - Pickle and Mashed Potato
                  Wednesday - BFE
                  Thursday - Cliffhanger

I decided to call the Utah DMV today and the guy there stated that I would be able to drive from trail head to trail head and or from our rental house to a trail head and back without any issues. But according to the Moab police departments website all vehicles must be licensed with current tags, so it looks like I will be towing it around lol.

Nice video. Drone videos sure give a different perspective on the area.
