  • Trail Report: Butler Peak is open after being closed for 9 years!

After being closed since 2007 due to the Butler 2 fire, this short 2.5 mile trail to an amazing fire lookout tower it is finally reopened. I literally was just up there on Saturday, July 9 via my mountain bike which took 45 minutes to climb. The downhill was much more fun as it took only 8 mins. Anyway there is a post in the So Cal Mountains website today that it is reopened.

Awesome pics! I only made it up there once, which was over 9 years ago, wow. Thanks for the pics! That's such a neat place.

Greg JUST sent out an email about this. Better late than never. Time to go run up there again. I think the last time I was up there was with you Sarah.

The first (and last) time I visited Butler Peak:

I just ran butler, dishpan and goldmountain this weekend in the Willys. Butler was nice! Despite the charred, broken and cut threes, it was a very beautiful drive!

My stomach's fear of heights didn't allow me to make the final row of stairs to the lookout tower, but I'm perfectly fine with that. I'll post photos later.
