  • XJ: 4.0 stroker pistons and rod size

I have a 96 xj stock engine, never been rebuilt and now have a tap/ knocking sound.....much like the sound I had several yrs ago that turned out to be a broken #5 piston ( skirt broke off one side of the piston). I replaced it and the rest of the pistons and rods but didnt have the time or the funds to do a complete rebuild at that time. I see pistons labled as 252 stroker 4.0 / 4.2 piston and rod sets on the internet...so...question is....are these a larger piston size or a longer stroke rod....and would these drop into my stock factory bore with the stock factory crank I have in my jeep now?
Some say that if you listen to the little voices, you are open minded, if you answer them, you belong in a white padded room. I say, have a conversation!!

    That's 4.0 pistons with 258/4.2 rods. That's the combo to use with a 258/4.2 crank in a 4.0 to make a 4.6L
