  • GPS & MAPPING Forum Rules/Guidelines/FAQs

Welcome to the GPS & Mapping forum!

Feel free to post your favorite maps, trails, tracks, etc - we've allowed attachment uploads and sharing for subscribers only at this time. Before you post a map, please search! In time, we'll migrate the data posted here to the trail reports section.

What filetypes are allowed to be posted here?
    • gdb
    • gpx (preferred)
    • mps
    • trk

You may attach files directly to your post in this section!

"FOR SALE" POSTS ARE NOT ALLOWED!!

    Transferring from Computer to GPSr
We use GPS Babel. It works on the Mac & PC. It will connect to your GPSr and send and receive tracks. It also converts filetypes from/to Garmin Mapsource, Google Earth, and GPX. Another app to check out is Easy GPS (Windoze only).

    Viewing Maps on your Computer
If you don't have Mapsource, or don't want to bother with it, we've been having a great time with Google Earth. With the above-mentioned applications, you can easily convert most file types to show properly.

PLEASE ALSO STOP BY OUR TRAIL REPORTS SECTION - for lots of photos and more maps!
