  • New Steering!

I bent the crap out of my stock Ford tie-rod when I went to the Hammers the last time. It wasn't completely unexpected, but still, I was hoping it would hold up better. But, with all bad things comes the opportunity to do it better. So I built a new tie-rod.

The tie-rod is DOM sleeved DOM. The inner tube is 1.25" x 1" DOM and the outer is 1.5" x 1.25" DOM. I put in 1" weld-in bungs for the Chomoly 3/4" Heims, and Chris welded it up for me. We polished up the DOM and clear-coated it, just to see what it would look like. It looked GREAT, so I left it that way. Super-Bling!

Then I milled the knuckles to remove the excess taper, and bored the holes with a 3/4" end-mill to get a perfect hole for the bolts. The finshed product is perfect, and I'm super happy with the knuckle-over solution.

Enough with the chatter. On to the pics!
