#2 Yay! No bears!

#3
Erik's trek thru the mud caused him to have to pull the drainplugs!

#4 Seapahn gets a little extra "flex."

The Rubicon Trail - Saturday
July 18-20, 2003 • Georgetown & Lake Tahoe, CA
Friday | Saturday | Sunday

We woke up to the hot sun rising over the mountains, and Kirk fixing another tire.

The rock slabs continued on and showed us some increasingly difficult obstacles. The awesome scenery continued - at times we overlooked the valleys and streams.

We had lunch at Buck Island Lake. Throughout the day we saw them setting up for the Jeep Jamboree July 24 -- they had a helicopter bringing in supplies!

We made it through all of Saturday without any problems other than Seapahn's fender and Erik's little mud incident. It just proves that your Jeep rocks when you need to use the drainplugs!

We camped again on solid rocks slabs next to Rubicon Springs. We had a roaring bonfire which was fueled by Fritos by the end of the night, but who's counting? Then it was off to bed for the next day ...

BELOW: One of the more difficult rocky obstacles early in the day.
Rick stops for a smoke.
This dude's "Jeep" serioulsy rocks! Not much from the Jeep was left, except for the body.
The landscape time and time again proved to be absolutely stunning.
LEFT: A prime camping AND parking spot! :D
RIGHT: Jim & Jen, here's your sunset.
